Winter in Pawley's Island

It's been a long four months for us. I have to say we did enjoy the weather and we saw many very interesting things.

My children and grandchildren are what makes life interesting and exciting for us.The thing that we enjoy most is spending time with them as often as we can.

Off to see the Battleship

Sun we planed a trip to Wilmington NC .The one thing Donnie wanted to do while we were here was take a tour of the USS North Carolina,a naval warship retired in 1947 and brought back to it's home in NC. It was a beautiful day for a trip that took a little over two hours and we saw a section of the south we had not seen. The tour was really very interesting ,I even enjoyed it !

Taking To the County

Sat we decide to take a drive to Conway,it is a big town that is sprawled out over many miles . We wanted to go to the boardwalk where all the shops and bistro's are "well I did" .I love the pralines here ,Donnie says they are to sweet!! well yeah that's why I LOVE THEM! After that we went in search of the gators that swim around the pier and well we found one!!! They said he was 6 feet long but it is hard to tell in the water . Then we went for a drive along the Pee Dee River to see the wild hogs they hunt .We didn't see any but on one of our trips to Charleston we saw two. That was enough for me.

Sharing The Sites

Time to Be A tourist
We decided last week that if we were going to play the tourist we better get busy !!! So we spent the entire weekend doing just that ,Fri. we went to the Ripley's aquarium ,it was amazing .The exhibits ,the music , the boardwalk.I could have stayed there all day. For those of you who have never been you walk on a conveyor as sharks ,giant turtles and thousands of other sea life swam around you and over your head.

Site seeing in the Low Country

Good Morning from the SC!!!
As you know our trip south was for health reason but we still tried to do as much site seeing as possible.I must admit that the price of gas made it difficult to do as much as we would have liked. One of our favorite places to go was Charleston. There is so much to see and do there, the streets, outdoor markets and shops were fun to just browse through .The highway was dotted with the Gullah shacks where they made the sweet grass basket and Donnie loved listening to their stories which were very interesting .
Our favorite place to go was always the state parks .South Carolina has 50 of the most beautiful parks I have ever seen. They are not just beaches and picnic areas as many are back home, they have Plantations and Zoo's in them. We spent many long days at Huntington's State Park walking the beach, watching the pelicans diving for fish or just sitting and reading. It is was one of the prettiest beaches in the area.

Hello out there............

Is anyone there?

I finally got my lovely daughter to take a bit of time out of her busy schedule last week to brighten up my blog and attempt to teach me how to navigate around. I have a LOT of trouble trying to post and add pictures. Oh well, I guess I'm just from another era.

We are in South Carolina right now, it is just beautiful here, HOWEVER, we can not wait to get home. The weather is wonderful and with Donny's beathing difficulties the warmer climate has helped tremendously. Next year we are thinking of coming back but for a short period of time. I do hate being away from my family.
We have done a bit of site seeing here and I will be back to share those pictures with you in a bit.
Until next time. Donna
